Trendy Tuesday: Statement hosiery 2

My lovely art deco footless tights from Fast Girl Skates came in.

Really, the web site is for derby gear, but cool tights are cool tights. And, sometimes a really neat accessory/accent can come from an unexpected place – like duct tape jewelry. I really like the look of duct tape jewelry but stopped wearing it because it tends to catch hair and pull skin.

However, I plan on passing on the tradition to my 11-year-old little cousin. I even gave her mustache duct tape as part of her last birthday gift; combining an old trend with a new one, I suppose.

Update: Hi there, everyone. After talking with a friend about these tights, I realized not everyone will know why a roller derby site is a good place to find cool tights and accessories. Firstly, roller derby has been around for decades – late 19th century. Two teams of five players in quad skates complete to get their player around the track first. The twist: four of the players on each team play both offense and defense. They try to knock the opposing team’s player off course while creating an opening for their player to get through.

The local league here in Dallas is Assassination City. We’ve got season passes this season, and it’s awesome! Dallas peeps should totally check it out. The reason derby places have cool tights is because they are almost a staple for derby players as a way to distinguish themselves from the uniform, and protect their skin when they fall or are knocked down.
